Explore the untamed beauty of Laikipia Wilderness through our photo tour. Discover breathtaking landscapes where rolling savannahs meet rugged mountains, dotted with acacia trees and wildlife-rich watering holes.
The Laikipia Plateau is teeming with extra ordinary wildlife including Elephants, Leopards, Greys Zebra and Wild Dogs apart from various species of Antelope. Rare and exclusive wildlife including Striped Hyenas and a Melanistic Leopard call Laikipia their home.
The resident Black Leopard female has in recent times been sighted very frequently and is also habituated to human presence and safari vehicles. On this photo tour, we would primarily focus on searching for and photographing the Melanistic Leopard on 2 daily morning and evening safaris and also on night safaris. Having the Laikipia River Camp as our base in the heart of the habitat, we will be well situated during our photo tour. Join us on this all inclusive photo tour with a focus to capture one of Africa’s rarest cats and other exclusive Wildlife from the Laikipia Plateau.
Day 1 - Jan 15, 2025
Arrival in Kenya - Transfer to Laikipia
Today is a set aside for arrivals and transfer to Laikipia to arrive in time for lunch. On arrival at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, meet with our airport representative and transfer by road to Laikipia. The Drive takes around 5 hours. Check-in at the Laikipia Wilderness River Camp and after lunch, grab some rest before we head out for the first evening.
We will spend the evening and return to the lodge after sunset. Dinner and overnight
Day 2-5 - Jan 16-19, 2025
4 days on safari in Laikipia
Waking to the sounds of the African Bush at 5:30 am, we meet for refreshments and depart on the morning game drive. We will focus primarily on tracking the Melanistic leopards specifically and also other wildlife.
Return back to the lodge for breakfast or enjoy a bush breakfast. Rest a while in the Lodge and post lunch, head out for the day’s second safari. We will explore different areas of the concession and stay out until dark. Once the sun has set, we will be spotlighting under the cover of darkness to search for the region’s nocturnal wildlife.
On one of the evenings we will enjoy a sundowner from a vantage point overlooking the sprawling grasslands and rolling hills.
Day 6 - Jan 20, 2025
Last morning and checkout
Before we depart Laikipia, we will go on our last morning safari. Post breakfast, we bid adieu to beautiful Laikipia. Checkout and drive back to Nairobi arriving around 5 pm in time for your fight back home departing after 8 pm.
